| 32 bit operating system | Windows Defender Hey,,,i have my own Security Set Up,how do i get rid of Windows Defender Permantly? i have never used it, i dont't seem to be able to remove it? is it part of Vista? also my startup programes are in it which seems to be the only way i can get to them is through Windows Defender?. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Windows Defender Hello Puzzeld, Windows Defender is a anti-malware program that is a built-in feature of Vista and cannot be uninstalled. I would recommend to leave it running since it can help protect you and will not hurt anything to do so. However, if you still wanted to, you can turn off Windows Defender. This will help show you other methods of accessing and changing your startup programs in Vista though. Startup Programs - Enable or Disable Hope this helps, Shawn |

Yes i have Windows Defender turned off,i prefer not to use it as i don't trust it,i feel it protects Microsoft not your PC,on basic installation. Yes so it's part Vista thought so, i use Kaspersky Internet Security it's great. cya. |
