Vista - ALL file details showing as photography?

Does anyone think this is a virus? issues are;

1. every file no matter what it is shows photography details such as 'date taken' and 'rating'.

2. when uploading files to the internet it takes about 4 mins for the files to apear in the choose file pop up, can see folders only for this time.

have AVG, and advanced system care on, though I dont often know what to let through and what not to when AVG asks.

something is wrong with my personal settings on boot but cannot trace the particular .dll online.

Bought the laptop last year new, but in mexico and the guy in the shop had to put visa (enterprise) on it for me. it had 2 gig ram and an intelcore2 duo processor. service pack1.

any ideas what I should do next to try and fix??
