Is your AVG firewall on?

Are you using AVG Anti Virus [no firewall component included] free or paid?
Are AVG & Spybot updated regularly?
Do you scan regularly? Have you had any "nasties"?
How often do you use Registry Mechanic?
Did your computer come preinstalled with a trial AV program?

I don't advise you use Registry Mechanic. Why do you think it necessary?

If you had an Anti Virus preinstalled on the computer when purchased, it should have been removed using the appropriate removal tool. it is very unwise to have 2 Anti Virus progs on the same computer.

Now to your Windows Firewall -
Go to Start - Run - type in services. msc - ok - scroll down to Windows Firewall -
check that Status is Started & Start Up Time is Automatic.

Let us know how you go.

Try this;

  • Left Click Start>Control Panel [Classic View]>Administrative Tools>On the Admin. Tools page, Right Click Services> Select Run as administrator> User Account Control Continue
  • Once the Services page opens [after a couple of seconds], just scroll down to Windows Firewall, and from there follow JMH's instructions
Hope this works for you, and I'd stay well away from Registry Mechanic as well!

There is a period between them - services.msc
START | services.msc

With the method above this last post of yours, you don't need to type anything at all, it's all clicks!

As jcgriff2 said "There is a period between them - services.msc"

jcgriff2 - Well done. You are spot on. My mistake. [I was very which is no excuse at all.]
