RE: Recover Guest Profile
I create a new user through User Accounts in the Control Panel (even if I just turn on the Guest account) and no error is reported (need to check Event Viewer), ie. the new account appears as it thinks it actually created one but I can't log on with the newly created user (even with the ' turned on' Guest) account. I've looked at “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList” and I don't see any new accounts created (not even with the .BAK) extension (or ANY extension). When I try to log on with the newly created user, the system seems to try around 5 seconds just showing the Welcome message but finally gives up and displays the message [FONT="]"The User Profile Service service failed the login. User Profile cannot be loaded.". So basically I can't create new users nor turn on the Guest account. I prefer the old solid Unix stand way of creating new users - which never failed. Manually edit the /etc/passwd file and simply create a new user account. It seems to me Vista is over doing this process and needlessly complicating it. I much prefer to have solid basic functions - even 'manual' if necessary. I mean, get those basic needed functions first and then build if you must add functionality on top of them. Which leads me to the question: How can you manually create new users in Vista?
Thank you,
