Windows Defender Not Automatically Scanning.

I have Windows Defender as an active part of my Laptop Security, and have it set
to install updated Definitions automatically.

This is run in conjunction with avast! v4.8 Home Edition - Free Anti-Virus, and with
regular checks using Spybot Search and Destroy v1.6.2.46 - both kept right up to date.

Regardless of the fact that at Windows Defender>Tools>Options, I have these
settings,

wd.jpg,

Windows Defender never automatically completes the set task, and I am
sometimes reminded that a scan has not been done for 2-3 days, and then
need to complete the job manually.

The Laptop is always ON at this time, and I fail to see a reason why Windows
Defender should fail to activate the set scan. It's a minor nuisance, but a
nuisance all the same.

Tony,
A super post as always.

Just a couple of thoughts -
Is Tea Timer installed as part of Spybot?

Have you tried disabling Spybot before Defender is due to start its daily scan. [to rule out interference from this source.]

Tea Timer I thought only caught changes to the computer, not verifying permissions? I could be wrong though. If that is the problem, white list it in the Spybot Options, so it knows that is a trusted app.

I'm not suggesting anything. I'm just curious to know if Tony uses it. Many moons ago when I was happy to use Spybot the advice was to avoid Tea Timer.
