Final version of free Microsoft Security Essentials to ship September 29

Microsoft is now confirming MSE will ship on September 29. From a spokesperson: “I can confirm that Microsoft Security Essentials, the company’s highly anticipated no cost consumer security offering, will be released to the public tomorrow, September 29th.” It will be available in 19 markets worldwide, according to the company.

That's ok.
Re your question - is it better than Avast? Different people have different views.
As you are currently using the free version, it is probably worth trying to see what you think of it.

so far so good installed very easily and sets up nicely
big plus you can schedule a scan

Very good.
I'm not using it so I will be interested in your thoughts after you have trialled it for a period.
It seems to get good press.
Did you uninstall or disable Avast?
