I've Never Been This Frustrated Over A Pc

Alright, So I have a virus it seems to be a pretty bad one at that. I am unable to access my Google chrome browser but Luckily am able to use IE but If I try installing let's say AVG when I restart nothing works except MSN I can still chat to people.
This all started when my Norton 360 ran out and I had to switch for a new antivirus.
So when I did that everything just went to hell now I tried reformatting my PC so I could start from scratch, I'm not even worried about backing up files and all that I just simply want to reformat.

So i went to the site of my pc which is A Compaq Presario (SR5510F) And I found out that I can create a recovery disc by going to...

Start > All Programs > Pc & Help Tools > Recovery Disc Creation.

So I Tried making the disc and I get this message "The recovery partition could not be found"
Also I know you can only do this once but I've never done this before So I have no idea what's happening.

Anybody with a clue please give me something, I'd appreciate it lol.
Thanks.

A virus could potentially mess up your recovery partition.
Do you have the original operating system disks?

If you have time and the inclination, you can download and run malwarebytes.
Can you install AVG in safe mode?
Do you know what virus(es) you have?

If you cannot create a recovery disk and you do not have media to restore your operating system, you might call the manufacturer to see if they will ship the OS for a nominal fee.

But ya you really need to make those back up disks pronto when you install.I didn't install my PC and the person who did knew my PC came with no disks.Personally it upsets me the computer should come with at least the OS disks.I got into a huge debate with someone about it to no avail.I found out the hard way also :(

You're right they really should, atleast, Give you the OS disks with your pc regardless if vista or w/e is preinstalled.

Hello Platty,
Firstly a friendly bit of advice. Please don't shout at us. [Don't hit Bold type]
When you removed Norton did you use the appropriate removal tool?
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool
