Hi,

I was wondering if some one can help with a Windows Firewall issue.

I have pc conttected to a doamin ( LAN) and was working fine the day before - when the firewall was turned off.

Now after doing a vista update it seems to have enable the WF and a GPO and I cannot turn them off and nor can I connect to the networks ( no lan drive/proter/internet) NOTHING.

I have disable the GPO but the client WF is still not disabling and I cannot connect to anything.
Any ideas?

Thnaks in advance

Hi George,

Just to make sure, have you checked the firewall setting in Windows Firewall with Advanced Security (admin privilege, in Administrative Tools). If any "Active" profile disable it, then see if you can connect.

Hi Thanks.
I have work it out.
:D
In fact it had nothinh to do with the firewall - it was missleading.
It had to do with Watchguard VPN program that I installed to get access toa client network via VPN and that seems to have messed with the setting.

Once i removed it it - all worked - back to normal.

Tnaks Again

Hi,

The WF was disable but still did not work.
Even disabled the WF Service and still was not working.

So in the end I end up removing the WatchGuard VPN application, rebooted and that fixed the issue.

So there is something wrng with the Watch guard VPN applictions, I will be reinstalling that on a test pc and see if i can figure out what is wrong with it/hconfiguring it.

This though has brought to light another issue with GPO policies, even though they are disables, the client PC still keep the "LOCKED" setting and you cannot make any changes to the WF - thant another issue.

Thanks
George
