Windows Vista Locking Problem!

Hello! My brother has a desktop with the Windows Vista Home Premium installed in it! The PC is brand new and now he faces the problem of locked windows because when he first switched on the PC he didn't authenticated the Vista with the 16 digit code on the right of the console! Acually, he had no idea where to find this code so he carried on to working Vista till today when he cannot log in to access his file at all! When he switches on the PC a small box pop up saying username and when he clicks on this nothing happens! Vista are not booting! Because he is a solicitor and this is his job's PC he has important documents in it as well as he delays in writing some other important documents since he cannot access at all the Vista! He NEVER had an administrator password nor had any other password at all...he is a bit rookie in things other than writing documents and generally do the basics! Please HELP because he is desperate to open his PC A.S.A.P.!
Thanx in advance!
P.S. He has the original Vista and not a copy of them!

if all he needs is the documents he can take the hard drive and plug into another computer. On that computer he should be able to navigate to them and copy them to another location.

Sorry I cant help with the password but a 16 digit number is not from windows but another program probably for security

Sorry I didn't make my self clear! The windows when he switches on the PC prompt User Name (a square box) to click on it in order to log in to Vista! They don't ask him for a 16 digit number! I assumed that because he didn't authenticated from the first time! The only thing that Vista do is when he clicks on his name in order to boot the operating system (vista) a black screen pops up saying on the right bottom that "Windows Copy no compatible" (Translated from Greek more or less)! It is brand new PC and he has the ORIGINAL Vista CD but NO WAY to make a format! Even to take out the hard drive because if he opens the console he loses the gurantee from the retail store that bought it! Any other way to solve it please?

Windows Copy no compatible. What does that tell you? Did you check if its 64 or 32 bit?
