 I just received a Gateway FX P6860 Laptop from a customer of mine. They bought it brand new, set a password for their BIOS AND for their HDD. They can't remember either of them and I'm not all that familiar with Vista OR Gateways. Could someone PLEASE help me out on unlocking both of them? Thanks ahead of time.

To reset BIOS password, open your computer(tower).
Remove the PSWD jumper.
Turn on your computer. Now the password is gone.
Turn off the computer. Put the pswd jumper back to its original position.
Turn on your computer. Done!

Note   Note
PSWD jumper is hard to locate. Its somewhere on the motherboard. Look at the attached image for info.

It's not in a tower PC, it is in a laptop. I've already tried removing the CMOS battery after I removed the laptop battery & unplugged it. I also tried holding down the power button for 1 minute, 2 mins., about 5 mins. and just leaving it out overnight. Looked everywhere for a jumper, but haven't found 1 on laptop MBs before. Thanx for the info, just can't use it on this system. Once again, it's a Gateway FX P-6860 (Model #: P-6860FX) that's running Microsoft Vista Home Premium (until I can install XP Pro).
