I need to turn off DEP to run games
I need to disable DEP on my new dell XPS 435MT. None of the recomdations that I can google work- the DEP control panel is locked out- even when I command prompt DEP to turn off. I have spent several hours searching for information and trying this whith the same result- nothing. The games that I actually like to play are about 5 years old and will not launch with out failing. I wish that I could use this computer for the purposes I bought it for instead of screwing around on a internet forum.
Hello Fing, and welcome to Vista Forums.
Since you have a
64-bit CPU , then you will also have a
no exectute option in the BIOS settings (built in DEP on the CPU) that you will also need to disable in addition to disabling DEP in Vista below.

You might also see if using
Compatibility Mode on the games to see if that may help them run properly.
Hope this helps,
Shawn

I got some versions of the games working after I turned on the my computer yesterday, apparently restarting doesn't reset the settings.
Thanks, I was a little frustrated the other day.
