Hi,

I need a firewall & AV protection, I'm kinda settled on getting: COMODO Firewall and AVAST.
I'm looking at Comodo Internet Security v3.3 only the firewall part and then the free Avast whic has caught everything for me in the past but on XP; now I'm using vista ultimate 32bit.

I wanted to run it by here first to see if anyone has good/bad experience with the two programs running together.

Thanks for your feedback

I am running free Avast AV and Windows firewall and haven't any problems to date. Someone said the Best AV and Firewall is between the chair and the monitor or something like that.

I try to safely compute also...I'm setting-up business online and I am backing-up crucial stuff, but I want to keep my OS running good. I can kill a virus but I want to do pre-emptive security so I can try to avoid a re-format to get rid of the aftermath/screwed-up system files.

I've never used Comodo and the first thing I do after a clean install is turn off win security center and get my own; bad experience's with ms security.

I also use Sandboxie and SuperAntiSpyware. I know it is an overkill but I haven't any problems for a long time. As long as you are doing a daily backup for your business and making sure what you are backing up is free if viruses you should be all right.
I am not a certified tech but I belong to alot of tech forums and amazed at some of trouble people get into by not being careful. So I have learned by their mistakes.

I like the sound of Sandboxie, thanks. Since it runs in a virtual enviroment with the browser does it affect your browsing speed ?

None what so ever. It reminds you every 7-8 days to delete the sandbox which you will have to enter your name and password again. There is a great tutorial that you can follow on how to set up Sandboxie for your own personal needs.
I use Sandboxie as my default browser but you can choose whatever floats your boat.

Hallo kem, what you are after sounds good & born2golf has given you some good sound advice

I have used Avast & Comodo Firewall (not Defense+) for a couple of years & i am very happy with it.

I think you are on the right track going for version 3 the new version 4 is out but if you are just useing the Firewall i would give version 4 a couple of months to sort out teething problems.

You can download previous versions here just select the version you want from the colum;

Download Comodo Internet Security 4.0.135239 - FileHippo.com

If you need any help setting it up please feel free to ask, there are a few add on's you probably want to deselect like the "Hop Surf toolbar etc."
