Opening ports 8080 and 8888:
Type in the IP address if your router in the URL bar. You can figure out the ipaddress of your router by going into a command prompt and typing in ipconfig, and looking at the ipv4 addres section.
Once you are the webgui of your router, at the top click the firewall tab.
Then click the firewall settings button.
In the screen you should see the steps, they are: select computer, edit firewall settings for this computer.
Choose a computer from the choose a computer drop downlist, this computer is the computer that you will be forwarding ports to.
Then on step2, in the box of hosted applications, click add a new user-defined appliction link.
You will see a form to fill out, so type in the name of the application (doesnot matter if the name is accurate, it is just for identification purposes only).
Choose the protocol that you want to port forward with (TCP/UDP), if you need to portforward both, eg. you need to forward 8888 tcp and udp, then you will create two applications, one with port 8888 TCP, and another aplication (perhaps <application here> number 2) that portforwards with TCP, so you will be covering both protocols.
Type in the port that you want to portforward to. First we will do port 8080, so type in from port 8080 to port 8080. I dont think it will be required to fill in the map to host port, and the port timeout boxes, but if the application requires these detailed setting you can fill them out. Leave the application type as default.
Then click add definition.
Go back to the firewall tab.
Select your computer, and in the no.2 section you will see a list of user applications, choose the one that you made and click add, so it will be in the hosted applications section.
Now, we want to add ports 8888 to 8888, so do the same thing as described above, exceptadd it as a different name but similar to the original one, and forward to 8888 to 8888, and add it to the hosted applications (same thing goes if you want to forard with multiple protocols).

Hope you understand it. I researched most of my information here:
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/2wire/3800HGV-B/BYOND_Dream_Seeker_Host.htm
It has instructions for an application, but i left the application part out and only wrote the portforwarding section.
