Microsoft Security Woes

Thought I would try MSSE on my computer (Vista Home Premium) but didn't like it so uninstalled it again but now Security Center won't start. Windows Defender and Windows Firewall both start fine. A popup tells me to click to turn on Security Center to fix it but that does nothing.
I don't care if it won't start I just want to get rid of it or the popup.
It tells me to change the way Security Center alerts me to open Security Center....Won't open.

Go to services to start it.
Control Panel\Administrative Tools
It should be set to auto if not set it.
Adding a screen shot so you know what the service thing looks like.

Tried to start from services, tried run as administrator,tried to take ownership, each time i get "Failed to start" looked on the internet and only found heaps of other people with the same problem but no solutions yet

If you have a vista disc you could try this

Or you could try a system restore point.
MSE should have made a restore point before removal.
You could also use ccleaner CCleaner - Download
use the reg cleaner and reboot. See what happens.
Those 3 options is all I can come up with for now.

Don't have an install disc never received one with my purchase
Tried the restore point but it didn't go back far enough
Have run sfc/scannow no problems found also ran check disc at startup The last Security Audit was a success.
Event viewer gives this error now
The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services in the same process.
Don't really know what this means.

Seems to have to do with account profile.
Did you try ccleaner the reg cleaner.
It is safe to use.

Yes jimmy use it often(ccleaner) I know you are right about the account profile I was stuffing about with it the other day but no restore points go back that far. I have seen other people get the security center going but not windows defender. My defender is running fine as is my firewall

One other thing you can try and it is a long shot.
Boot into safe mode hit f8 during boot up.
This only starts what you need.
also is the true admin account.

Hi guys, you have both suggested & tried pretty much what i would have done already.

I dont suppose you have checked for malware as this shows the behaviour of known malware, might be worth a look then at least you can rule it out

Mitchell I run a malware bytes scan each day nothing found also scanned with Nod32,Super Antispyware,Black light root kit scanner, and A Squared on line scanner which found a crack in one of my programs but no virus. I think it is something to do with ownership and removing ownership from Trusted Installer to me has caused it somehow.

I have one more thing you can try. I have never used it but you can look into it.
Microsoft Fix it Solution Center
They probe your computer for problems and fix it.

That is all I able to come up with for now.

Thanks Jimmy, Microsoft.... Help, I thought that was like the tooth fairy, often talked about but never seen

OK I have found the problem but don't know how to fix it. RPC (Remote Procedure Call) Log on is the wrong setting it is set to Network and should be Local System. The whole entry for RPC is greyed out. The entry for RPC Locator is correct. I have tried using the "Hidden Admin. Account" no luck there.

Try a "Repair" install and see if that works for you.

Also, do you have a full time anti-virus program running? If not, install one asap!
(Windows Defender is NOT an anti-virus program)

RPC do not touch it. If you do your computer will not start at all.
It controls everything. That is why it is greyed out.

The MS site was my last idea.
I know you said you do not have a vista disc.
If you have a friend or family member that has one you can use it
to do a repair install like Jacee sugested.

You could also call the computer maker if you still have a warranty on it.
Tell them you never got reccovery disc.

Have requested Microsoft help. RPC log on is incorrect that is the cause but solutions are not so easy to find.
Jimmy I use Nod32 normally, just thought I would try MSSE. Won't try that again.
This entry was not greyed out 3 days ago. I have tried every startup option I can unable to edit this entry even tried to copy it to notepad and edited it then tried to reinstall but it reverted to how it was.

The entry for security center is it off or on?
If it is on turn it off. Reboot then turn it back on.

I am at a total loss at what could be wrong.
You tryed evrything possable.

Security Center is grayed out MS said it shouldn't be a problem set as it is but they are still working with me.
