Can't install any antivirus software
I am having great difficulty installing my antivirus software. I have tried installing multiple anti-virus products and each of them fail to install for various reasons.
When I tried to install Symantec Endpoint, I recieved the error code 1920 (~ insufficient privileges, failed to started defwatch). I tried numerous remedies from the symantec web page and some things from my office IT department. I finally gave up and tried to install McAfee. The the user account control ask for permission to start but the McAfee installation screens never appear. I tried various remedies from McAfee blogs but none had any affect. I also tried to install AVG free version yesterday but it failed during the later part of the installation...something about a service could not start.
I ran an installation support tool from Symantec and it said that my admin account was a known account with disabled priviledges. That error doesn't make sense because this PC is not a networked machine and I am logged in as the administrator.
I would sincerely appreciate some help.
Update, While reviewing the vista blogs I noticed the new Windows Security Essentials is available. I just installed it with no problems. While I would still like to know why the others won't, I'm glad I'm no longer un-protetected.
