.tmp files showing up on Local (C:) is it a virus??

There are thousands of files like trz1CDF.tmp and trz1CEO.tmp are showing up in the Local Disk (c:) and when I try to delete them they slowly recreate themselves. What are these files and how do I rid me Local (c:) drive of them??
