Data Execution Prevention and Fire Fox 13.0

When I had FF 3.x a few months ago, I didn't have problems with DEP, which left FF3.x alone.

Some web sites I go to started popping up that I had an obsolete version of FF and I needed to upgrade.

    So I did so.

Since then DEP has been freaking out over FF.

It won't let me allow Ff and its plugin container to operate. As far as I know, all plugins are up to date.

I have scanned my cmoputer for visruses and trojans, none there. i have AVG paid and malwarebytes paid. Both up to date.

How do I fix this ... before I either heave my computer into the dumpster or format it and convert it to a Linux computer ?

    Thanks.

I have disabled 3 old plugins and removed another 2. If that doesn't solve it, what then ?

    Hello Jim,

I'd recommend to completely uninstall Firefox, download a clean copy from Mozilla at the link below, and reinstall. You may have gotten a bad copy if you updated from a website instead of the source Mozilla.

I downloaded from Mozilla. I'll do it again.

They patched it, FF is now at 13.0.1 I unnistaleld 13.0, and downloaded 13.0.1 via Chrome and installed it.

Sigh and when I went to mozilla.org to check my add-ons, their web site diosabled Java. said 1.6 was too old. Now I have 1.7, and I have heard bad things about it... I've had to use more than one version one the same computer so I don't see the problem. I rarely use Java at home.

Hopefully 1.7 will not be bad for you.
