Oracle has just release a new version of Java, due to security concerns in earlier versions. Please install the current version after uninstalling the version in current use.

Security researchers from Poland-based security firm Security Explorations
claim to have discovered a vulnerability in the Java 7 security update released
Thursday that can be exploited to escape the Java sandbox and execute arbitrary
code on the underlying system.

I have disabled my Java, since it was used very rarely. My last use was to check out the world clock website.

Especially if using IE, make sure it is disabled. With IE regardless on the information on how to disable, it cant be done. I had to uninstall.
Verify Java Version
Per Google other browsers are much easier to disable than IE, but test to be sure.

Java can't be disabled in IE9. In IE8 it can. That's my understanding.

Yes, I've tested it and Java is disabled. Thanks. Unfortunately, Java can't be disabled in IE9 from what I've read.

Uniquely enough, I seem to be encountering issues with my clients computers where it will install an recent version of Java (not the newest) or won't check for updates. However, so far the cure has been to update from the Java Console from within the Control Panel or download directly from install links.
