Super Slow

When I put disc in it then displays 100% content
Sounds like the CD/DVD drive can read a disc, which is why I was so curious about your intended playback software for that particular type of disc.

Thanks. I did notice it did change to Nero in one instance, which wa a bit odd as didn’t think I touched anything lt isn’t in the pull down list.

But - just before posting a reply. It seems to be now working
In media player it is ripping a cd without me asking but it is playing a cd which is superb.
Although on track 2 it is saying Media changing…and struggling to progress. After a minute is is playing although a bit stutter

Images are too large but settings with windows media mostly.

hope this setting is saved but wil go into auto play and save if needing to.

Also I amended vista to aero. How do I return to previous as aero seems to slow me down?

Finally thanks for your help in saving a laptop from the bin.

As I mentioned, Aero will slow you down. It takes about 0.5 GB of RAM. Right click on the desktop and select Personalize. Select Windows Color and Appearance. At the bottom, select Open classic appearance............................ Change Windows Aero to something else and adjust things, as desired.

Did you install the driver I linked you to for your CD drive?

It looks like the drive needs to be cleaned, as I mentioned before.

Sounds like the default action for Audio CDs was set to rip using Windows Media Player, so no surprise that CDs did not play automatically after loading. You can change that AutoPlay setting to suit your preference. Your driver seems to be working fine.

...on track 2 it is saying Media changing…and struggling to progress. After a minute is is playing although a bit stutter....

Now tried another cd and that doesn’t work.
The most reliable Audio CDs are the factory-pressed, store-bought CDs. Homemade Audio CD-Rs are much less reliable, especially if they were burned on a different drive and/or burned many years ago. CD-RW is the most unreliable media of all: I advise against using them for burning. As wither 3 has already suggested, you could try a cleaner disc.

I never used Nero, but you could check to see if CDs play better in your Nero than they do in Media Player.
