Re: Task Manager - Enable or Disable

Thanks Brink, the .reg solution worked for me!

I think I know the cause in my particular case, I remember downloading a strange program (cant remember what it was exactly) and running it, nothing actually happened but when i looked on my task manager services it said that "microsoft shadow volume" was running and something else with a similar name was too.

Anyway I dont know if that had anything to do with anything but I definately think I downloaded some sort of malware with that dodgy program (usually pretty cautious but my my head was somewhere else that night) so Im downloading AntiVir at the moment to hopefully delete it.

Anyway thanks again mate, couldnt live without my precious task manager

Re: Task Manager - Enable or Disable

Hi Chip,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

It sounds like you did get some form of malware with the program. In addition to the AV program, you might also run a scan with Spybot Search & Destroy to see what it may find to. It is designed more towards defending against adware and spyware programs.

The home of Spybot-S&D!

You can also find some other free ones to use here:

Free Software List for Vista

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: Task Manager - Enable or Disable

Hi Neverhavemoney,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

I learned through the hard trial and error way of experience, but you should difintely go to a good tech school to learn a lot faster. Everything in the future will most likely require some form of computer technical skills.
