How to Clear the Desktop Background Picture Location List History in Vista

Click the image to open in full size.

I found the way to clear the desktop background picture location history.

Here is the solution - open up regedit and go to the following 2 registry locations..

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Deskscapes\WallpaperFolders
NOTE: You may only have this if you have installed Deskscapes.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Wallpapers\Images

Click the image to open in full size.

when you get to wallpaperfolders delete whatever history folder you want and your desktop background picture location will be organized and clean as it should be..Do the same when you get to the Images folder also.

Re: Clear the desktop background picture location history

Hi Miiix,

I have added a image of regedit to help. If you compare the regedit image with the Desktop Background image, you will see the extra menu items listed in the registry. Each location at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Wallpapers\Images is a folder (key) in the left pane of the registry that need to be expanded until you get to the final location in the registry image above.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
