| Vista Ultimate | Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. Shawn, I've tried all recommendations, including the horrors of a repair install, and am still getting the "User Profile Service...." message. I've tried with accounts created using Control Panel|User Accounts and using LUsrMgr.msc to no avail. Since I can never log on, even once, with a freshly created account then there are no registry entries and sub-folders added under \Users folder. The non-existant, "created" accounts do appear in Control Panel|User Accounts and in the msc snapin (Lusrmgr.msc). Any ideas as to where and how to pursue this problem? So far my searches have been fruitless. My one experience with the Vista Support Center or whatever moniker they have was unproductive with no followup from the obviously Tier 1 support person. May your day be brighter than mine, Karl |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. Well Karl, it looks like it may be beyond repair then, and a clean install will be needed to get it back up and running again. ![]() After you have everything reinstalled and setup, you might use another hard drive or partition and use it to create a Complete PC Backup. This way you can use that backup to restore the completer computer back to the way it was the day of the backup. Sorry, Shawn |

| Vista Ultimate | Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. Shawn, Pity. Clean install is out of the question. System is crippled but usable. Complete PC Backup & Restore using MS software is not without its problems on laptops which is where the problem is. Maybe Vista II (Windows 7) will be less problematic. Thanks and if I run across the solution to this problem, I'll give you an update as there are others with the same problem. Gig' em Aggies |

| Win 7/64 | Hi Shawn, Attached my user accounts capture, have no idea how it happened and tried everything already. I only have a SID profile with no .bak, can't duplicate it for the life of me. System works half way and my installation dvd says "upgrade has been disabled", any suggestions? Thanks ![]() |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. Hello fjbeltran, and welcome to Vista Forums. You might try a System Restore with a restore point dated before the problem to see if it can fix it. If not, see if you can create another administrator account to see if it works properly. If it does, then you can delete the old account from within the new one. Be sure to select the Keep Files option, when deleting it, to have a copy of the old account's User folders placed into a folder on the desktop of the new account. Hope this helps, Shawn |
