Hi,

This happened to me too last night and I managed to fix it using the safe mode and system restore procedure. I do not know a whole lot about computers but for what it is worth I did change a number of the default programs in the session before this problem occured. Apart from that I did nothing else unusual. Could this be the source of the problem?

I'm noticing that it's usually caused by deleting or renaming the C:\Users\(user name) folder. However, the exact cause has not been determined yet. I will add you findings to the list to see if there may be any patterns appearing from it.

I had the exact problem listed here -- and it appeared out of nowhere just hours after I'd been up and running just fine.

My case was the one with two "S-" entries and the one with ".bak" appeared to be the correct one.

So, I followed the directions exactly and the results were as advertised: worked perfectly and I'm back up and running fine.

The Redistry Editor worked but there were two accounts that had the message. My dad's and mine. i fixed my dad's but i can't fix mine. i tried making another account but it had that same message: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. What should i do? please help!

Welcome to Vista Forums.

If you cannot fix this other account using the tutorial to, then you might try the other B & C options in the NOTE at the top of the tutorial to see if that can help.

I can't say Thank you enough for this forum Brink! I'm on my laptop hours & hours a day. First off i have Vista Home Premium on my Dell laptop. I came home from work trying to log on to my account like any normal day but I get the password does not match user profile thing & i start FLIPPING OUT. =o) Found this forum, chose option 1 & boom avoided a heart attack & am back in business. Can i make a donation or something in your name for the help? LOL Thanx so much -Cris
