| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Task Scheduler - Create Task How to Create a Task in Vista Task Scheduler |

| Business 32 | Re: Task Scheduler - Create Task Thanks for the welcome Shawn. Unfortunately I'm not out of the woods yet. I'm simply trying to schedule a Malware scan like this: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe /quickscan On XP when I right click and choose Run in the Task Scheduler, all goes as expected - ie a Window on the screen appears showing progress. On Vista mbam.exe shows up in the Task Manager OK but nothing appears on the screen - there is activity for a while then the process just stops and just stays there in the process list. I have set it to "Run with highest privileges". If I just type the above into the Start Run box (the Start Search box in Vista speak?) , it works fine but I have to get past the UAC window first (have I got that acronym right? I don't use Vista much!) As I said before I can't believe how tricky it's become to simply schedule a task! Peter |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Task Scheduler - Create Task Peter, You might create a BAT or VBS file with that command, and create a task with the BAT or VBS with the "Run with highest privileges" option to see how that may work instead. |

| Business 32 | Re: Task Scheduler - Create Task Thanks for the suggestion. Trying that now - of course I had to add quotes around the file specs - but there's no change. Strange to watch it in Task manager - runs at about 20%/30M for about the time the scan takes then CPU goes to 0% and Memory slowly reduces to about 300K - weird! I just tried running it as SYSTEM but that didn't help. It's not all that important but this is quite annoying! Peter |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Task Scheduler - Create Task I'm not familiar with that program, but some of them have a option in them to run at startup and to schedule a scan to run when you like to. |

| Business 32 | Re: Task Scheduler - Create Task Scheduling is offered with the Pro version which I'm not ready to commit to yet. And that may be no guarantee either ... I notice my McAfee has tried to schedule stuff on my Vista box and though the tasks are enabled & scheduled they have never run! I only use the Vista box rarely - when a customer has a problem with one of my games on a Vista box so I can handle doing the Malware scan manually once a week. Thanks for trying to help - at least your tute got me past the Error Message stage! Peter |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Task Scheduler - Create Task There's a warning at the top of this page: "You will have to do this from within an Administrator account." Does this mean: (a) The Administrator account. (The account that is disabled by default.) or (b) An account with Administrator privileges. . |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Task Scheduler - Create Task Hello OldGrantonian, It would be from within any administrator user account. In an administrator account you automatically have administrator privileges. If you mean with UAC, then you would just click on Continue if prompted while in an administrator account. Hope this helps, Shawn |
