| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista SP1 Slipstream Installation DVD Hi Allan, I do not know of a way to do it. I would not think that it would be a good idea though considering that IE is a very integrated component of Vista. It is even tied in with Windows Explorer through the address bar. Sorry, ![]() Shawn |

| vista premium 64bit | Re: Vista SP1 Slipstream Installation DVD Shawn Just finished loading a slipstreamed dvd of vistaX64 with vLite. Clean install on spare hdd. Cut out anything to do with IE7 with vLite. Loaded FireFox V3 rc1. Havn't seen reference to IE yet. Any suggestions to where or what might invoke it? allan Explorer has to be load,,,, maybe not the IE hooks? I am keeping my fingers crossed |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista SP1 Slipstream Installation DVD Allan, I'm glad to hear that you were able to remove IE7 with vLite. Hopefully it will work the Default Programs and use FireFox without any problems for you. Shawn |

| Vista Home Premium 32 bit | Re: Vista SP1 Slipstream Installation DVD I've tried to slipstream SP1 with my Medion Recovery Disc (Vista Home Premium came on the PC) using vLite and I thought the following observations could be useful: a) At step 5, I was getting a repeated BSOD and forced reboot until I discovered that it was caused by a program called mfx.exe (Magic Folders); uninstalling it solved the problem. b) Then, later in step 5, I found that in order to progress I had to select the top folder WITHIN the Vista disc-copy folder on the desktop (NOT the Vista folder itself) - called in my case MEDHOPRENU. c) All then progressed as stated above until step 12, when it passed through the Preparing and Extracting phases, but after about half an hour in the Integrating phase, it Aborted (without further information) - then 'Failed - no changes made'. SHOULD I be able to succeed with this approach - or is the OEM disc (which I have successfully used to undertake a Repair Install, despite reservations expressed in these tutorials!) inadequate as a basis? |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista SP1 Slipstream Installation DVD Hi John, Usually a OEM Recovery DVD will not work as far as a I know with this method. If it was a Express OEM DVD, which you can use to do a Repair Install, then it might be able to work. It sounds like you may have had some interference from something as well. You should have been able to select the Vista folder from step 5 and proceed considering the statement above. Shawn |

| Vista Home Premium 32 bit | Re: Vista SP1 Slipstream Installation DVD Well, persistence paid off and the second attempt proved successful! The Medion Recovery Disc seems to be an adequate basis both for Slipstreaming and Repair Install. Again, I had to use the folder WITHIN the copied Vista folder as the basis for vLite. One small further point - in step 22, the Finish button did not appear, but Exit seemed to have the same function. Many thanks for your really excellent tutorial. John |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista SP1 Slipstream Installation DVD Hi Korayem, Welcome to Vista Forums. ![]() It sounds like there was a problem using the copy of the Vista DVD files. Try recopying them and try making the slipstream DVD again. You might also post this error in the vLite program forum for more of a specific solution hopefully. vLite - MSFN Forums Hope this helps, Shawn |
