Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

Hello Trax1963,

I can't follow your tutorial because right at the beginning on points 2 and 3, when I press Ctrl+Shift+F3 nothing happens. I repeated a couple of times and waited very long, but nothing. Is there anything I can be missing ot a way to overcome this, please?

This keyboard issue, clear keyboard,if this is keyboard on USB make sure USB Legacy Support is enabled in BIOS PC Accessories - Issues when USB Legacy Support is Disabled

Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

Flavius,

Thanks for the answer. This is a normal PS2 little purple round plug, not USB. It is working OK in any other way. I can't test the Ctrl+Shift+F3 set in Windows because I have no use, but I can test all other keys. I mean, testing separately in normal use (on Windows), Ctrl works with other keys, so does the Shift and the Pause (this one while starting the computer), as for the F3 is the key I use more often every day on searching.

Can't this be from something else that I am missing or doing wrong, please?

All three bottons CTRL+SHIFT+F3 you have to press in the same moment -I can't explain why it not working by you.I suggest change keyboard if still no success.

Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

Pretty good tutorial!
However, i've a little problem with the audit mode. Always when i try to enter it, a error-message pops up "Failed to complete installation. Please restart the installation".
Can anybody help me with my SP1 + SP2 Vista DVD?

Btw, i have another question... will vLite be able to edit this Sp1 + Sp2 Vista Image?

Thanks!

Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

Someone should rewrite this tutorial. It is extremely loosely written, hardly understandable on some passages. Some pictures do not show the right fields or else don’t seem to agree with the corresponding text. This tutorial does not fall on the same excellent level of other tutorials on these forums, maybe the best ever on Windows.

The author is probably highly skilled and able, but he should learn how to write when addressing non-expert people, some of them not even understanding English properly. Some points are impossible to understand for anyone in both situations.

There is no single tool, yet. That thread refers to reverse integration which can be very messy.

I have a new system which came with a Vista Ultimate SP1 OEM disk and I would like to slipstream SP2 into it for future use.

Will have to read this thread throroughly I can see!

Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

I wasn't trying to shoot you down, I meant a final published tool. All I read was that something was in testing, plus one needed .net 4 beta...which I'm not willing to do. So I'll try to follow the guidelines in the tute here.

Question - how important is it to use the SP2 cleanup tool? Basically I'm curious as to why one has to use it, if one has to.

Plus can one use either ImgBurn or Nero instead of UltraISO?

Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

the cleanup tool is for people that do a upgrade instead of clean install, as to the other question about i don't think it should make a difference. i use nero 8 to burn my iso's
