Here's How:

>>>Addendum! <<<
Do not enter product key for installation whilst slipstreaming! You will lose the ability to upgrade & repair install! (Thanks again to Flavius on this point)
1. Install Vista RTM to a secondary partition
install-here.jpg
2. During the installation, once in the Out of Box Experience (OOBE) after setup starts, press Ctrl+Shift+F3 to enter Audit mode.

3. Now press Ctrl+Shift+F3.

4. After this, the system will reboot into Audit mode and a Sysprep window will pop up. Do not close this Sysprep window.

5. Run the Vista SP1 installer. (The standalone service pack 1 installer from microsoft which you will have previously downloaded)

6. Run the Vista SP1 Cleanup Tool.

7. Run the SP2 installer.

8. Run the Vista SP2 Cleanup Tool.

9. After the SP2 setup is complete, you'll be back at the main Vista desktop with the Sysprep window open. Now select OOBE, Generalize, and to Shut Down the system.

10. NOW Boot the system into Main OS installed. DO NOT boot back into the Vista SP2 you just setup.

11. Install Waik.

11. Then goto the startup console look for the Waik command prompt and right click on Run as Administrator.

12. Type in the following imagex command below and press enter.
imagex /compress maximum /flags "HomePremium" /capture d: c:\install.wim "HomePremium"

NOTE
You may need to replace "HomePremium" after the /flags switch with whatever edition of Vista you need installed!

Where d: is the drive that you have installed Vista SP2 on, and c:\install.wim is the location to store the new version of install.wim follow the steps below:~

Now:~
  1. Start UltraISO, and select your DVD drive with your Vista DVD loaded under UltraISO's local header. Next select Tools > Make CD/DVD Image
  2. UltraISO will capture & save your DVD image under \Users\{user ID}\Documents\My ISO Files\LRMCxFRE_EN_DVD.iso (LRMCxFRE_EN_DVD is the volume label of my Vista DVD, your label may be different). Don't change any of the default settings. When UltraISO has saved the image, it will ask you if you want to open it, select yes.
  3. From the opened image, select the /sources folder and browse for the install.wim file. Right-click this file and select delete.
  4. Next copy the new install.wim you created in step 11 (should be on d: or whatever drive you have put it on) above into the /sources folder. then select and drag & drop install.wim to the /sources folder.
  5. From UltraISO's menu select File >: Save
  6. Once the ISO has been saved, make sure that the install.wim file from the /sources folder is the updated install.wim (look at the date).
  7. Now select Tools > Burn CD/DVD Image
  8. When ready, you'll have your Vista install DVD with SP2 included.

13. It takes about 180 mins.

Smile Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

I applied this method of slipstreaming SP2 to Vista Homepremium (32 Bit) with SP1 Vollversion with Product Key, and was successful in building sp2 slipstreamed DVD. However, I could not install this sp2 slipstreamed Vista Homepremium because of product key error; by installation I got the error: the product key is not valid for this version. Did you also experience such an error? If not, what did you do to overcome this error?
Thanking you

Important question:Is that legal version of system? In every SP X (it's without any meaning what kind of system it is 2000,XP,Vista,Windows 7) MS add some keys to "black list" which can't be never used -they were used too many times by pirates of course .

Sorry to hear your having a problem. Did you select the correct product whilst configuring your project. For instance you must pick Home Premium if that is the product you purchased...Also can't help you if you use naughty products...

Red face Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

Yes, it is a legal and oficially purchased version of Vista Home Premium sp1 32Bit. Without sp2 slipstreaming there is no problem by installation. After installation of Vista Homepremium sp1 32Bit, Sp2 can be installed without any problem It is only after sp2 slipstreaming, I face the product key problem. One needs sp2 , because without sp2 Vista Homepremium makes problem with some usb hard disks, not all but some, e.g. with USB AluDisc 500GB of OneTechnology; by plugging this hard disc to Vista Homepremium sp1 32Bit system, the system crashes with blue screen, with sp2 installed, it does not. Any suggestions!

Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

1.It's strange.Try make slipstreamed Vista SP2 DVD without product key (not preregistered),you'll enter product key & register after installation

2.If this is some older machine it could be also problem with BIOS not fully compatible with SP2.Try update BIOS.

Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

I'm having the same product key problem. Here's my situation. I have a group of Dell Latitude D830 laptops, all with Windows Vista Home Premium COAs. I also have the original Dell Vista installation DVDs. Unfortunately, these DVDs do not have any service packs integrated. When I installed the OS using the original DVD (without SP1 or SP2 slipstreamed), I did not have to activate the OS or type in a product key. I assume this is because the original DVD installs using the Dell SLP key. After slipstreaming SP2, I now have to activate and change the product key after installing my newly created SP2 DVD. It's tedious to activate and type in COA product keys on 100 laptops. Any ideas?

Re: Sliptream Vista SP2

Sorry I am unable to help with your dilemma!
Flavius may have the answer to your question.

I only figured out how to get SP2 to work via slipstream and was able to put it into words, the rest was Flavius's help...
