Re: User Account Control (UAC)

i did follow the instructions, but after i click yes, it prompt out a box from Regitry Editor which wrote :
Cannot import C:\User\FrankGoh\Desktop\Turn_UAC_Off.reg: Not all data was successfully writen to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes.

Re: User Account Control (UAC)

Hello LBK, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Are you doing this while logged on to an administrator account?

If so, then you can also do the manual method or the usual Method One to turn UAC off.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Still won't work.

Hey Shawn!

Thanks so much for all your work. I'm also trying to reactivate my UAC.

I've tried everything, even the manual registry reset. It gives me this error: "Cannot edit EnableLUA: Error writing the value's new contents."

The Turn_UAC_On.reg returns this error when I try to merge it: "Cannot import ..._On.reg: Not all data was successfully wirtten to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes."

And when I do it through the control panel, I just check the box and it takes me back to users without a restart. The box is then still unchecked.

Any ideas what I can do?

Many thanks.

Hello VoxOrpheus, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Are you doing this while logged on to an administrator account? You will not be able to do this from within a standard accoun.

Thanks, Brink!

I am logged in as an administrator, but my account is acting like a standard account. Even when I run install programs as an administrator (w/ the right click), they are denied access.

You might see if you can boot into Safe Mode as the built-in Administrator, then double check to see what your user account has listed as the user type (ex: Standard or administrator) and change it if needed.
