| Administrator | Re: Index - Enable or Disable Hi bmp, You will not get any errors by disabling the Index. Disabling the Windows Search service (Option One) will disable the Index completely, while Option Two will just disable it for the drive you selected. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Administrator | Re: Index - Enable or Disable No problem bmp. Yes, it is safe and not a security risk. You will still be able to a normal slower non-indexed search with accurate search results. With the Index disable it can help stop your hard drive from running as much in the background. |

| Newbie | Re: Index - Enable or Disable What is the downside to have this indexing disabled. A slower search or incomplete search? |

| Newbie | Re: Indexing Service (Search) I did manage to get Google Deskop to install on 64-bit Vista and that was to use the /FORCE switch. Apparently this is what XP 64-bit users need to do.Google does warn that by forcing the install that the app may or may not work properly - thus far I've experienced no ill side effects |

| Administrator | Re: Index - Enable or Disable The downside is that the search will take a bit longer to do since it is searching everything instead of just the indexed files. However, your search results will be accurate now instead of waiting on the index to finish updating itself for accurate results. Hope this helps, Shawn |
