Check to see if you also have View and Tiles set along with View, Group By, and Type.

After you set it to the way you want it, close the window. It should (well, is suppose to ) reopen back the same way.

Doing that at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell in this tutorial will affect that Wow6432Node location as well after restarting the computer, so it's not needed.

I must admit that if you merged the .reg file and set the folder the way you liked it and closed it, then I'm not sure why your Computer folder layout keeps resetting like that.
