Internet Explorer - Tabbed Browsing

How to Use Tabbed Browsing in Internet Explorer in Vista

information   Information
Tabbed browsing is a feature in Internet Explorer that allows you to open multiple websites in a single browser window. You can open webpages on new tabs, and switch between them by clicking the tab. If you have multiple tabs open, you can use Quick Tabs to easily switch to other tabs. The advantage is that you have fewer items open on the taskbar. For more information, see: Windows Vista Help and How-to: Tabbed Browsing FAQs

Normally, after an extended browsing session, I go to Tools|Internet Options|General -> Use Current to save my open pages, so that when I come back, I can continue where I left off.

Sure, I could always add all open pages to my favourites as a Tab Group, but I don't want to do that, because I some of the pages I don't want to have in my favourites.

But sometimes I have more than 8 tabs open, and IE7 only allows 8 pages to be used as home pages.

Is there a way to allow Internet Explorer 7 use more than 8 homepages?

Hi Peter,

Not that I am aware of. The only way I know for more than 8, is to use the Favorites. You can always delete the ones you do not want to keep in Favorites.

Sorry,
Shawn

I believe that's true. Opera has a similar limitation- not sure about Firefox.

But yeha, I just have gotten much better about organizing favorites. I like having that pulldown just to the left.

Peter,

I found a possible solution for you. See the How to Make IE7 Open the Last Opened Tabs Again : above for the solution. It allows you to tell IE7 to automatically reopen the currently open tabs again when you use IE7 next.
