| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Speed Up the Performance of Vista Hi Brink, wow I can't wait to get started. This may be a silly question, but how do I know what kind of mother board I have so I can update the Bios? I have an HP Pavillon with an AMD 64x2 dual core processor 4800 + 2.5ghz. 1918mb ram. Oh, and 32 bit op system. Thanks, Case |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Speed Up the Performance of Vista Case, You can download the BIOS from here: Software & Driver downloads*HP Pavilion Media Center TV m8013w Desktop PC If you need specs on your system, then see: HP and Compaq Desktop PCs*-* Motherboard Specifications, M2N68-LA (Narra)* Any reputable retail place (Online or Store) is great place to buy RAM. I would just go with who has the best price for the RAM you need. Online may be a bit cheaper, but a store is easier and faster to deal with if you have problems with the RAM. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Speed Up the Performance of Vista Shawn, another question if you don't mind. When I turned off remote differential compression, I noticed in your example, you have Windows DFS Replication service turned off. Mine is checked. Should I uncheck it? Also, on step 16 do I have to enable 'yes' on Require a password on wakeup. Mine is set to 'no'. Thanks, Casey Last edited by Case; 02-26-2008 at 03:02 AM.. Reason: new question |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Speed Up the Performance of Vista Hi Case, If you do not need DFS Replication, and most people do not, then it will be fine to uncheck. You can read more on it here to determine if you do need it or not. Windows Vista SP1 Services Information - DFS Replication If you want it set to where you have to enter a password when the computer wakes up from sleep or hibernation, then yes you will need to select Yes. Hope this helps, Shawn |
