OK you could checkout your manufactures site for updated drivers for your system, (vista will often state that drivers are up-to-date although updates exists but have not been added to the Microsoft database).

if that doesn't help the next thing I can think of (As the black screen appears after the welcome message and the fact that you can get to Task Manager), is that the delay is caused by a program set to run on startup. the only real way to prove or disprove this is to see if the problem exists in safe mode

Safe Mode

If the problem does not happen in safe mode then its a case of disabling each startup item in turn via Control Panel - Programs - Change start-up options, and re-booting until the culprit is located.

This may of course take a while to locate the exact cause

Re: Advanced Boot Options

Hello Bling,

If that recovery disk is the original one that came with your computer, then Yes it will reinstall Vista Basic back.

Re: Advanced Boot Options

In your thread:
Advanced Boot Options
I do not see any option shown on the black boot screen that says "repair". Which option is the repair option?

Re: Advanced Boot Options

Hell Teaman, and welcome to Vista Forums.

The Repair option will only be available if you have a OEM computer with a recovery partition on your hard drive. Otherwise, you will need to use the System Recovery Options from your Vista installation disk.
