Re: Disk Management - Shrink Partition

Hi Brink,

Thanks for your help with the partitions.

I saw a reference to the antitrust issue before. It's easy to get programs that will adjust the partitions for you.

This is a great forum and have found alot of very useful information here, thank you for the extensive, easy to follow How to's.

Regards,
Dave

Re: Disk Management - Shrink Partition

Hello Mina,

Double check to see if the C: drive is set with the "Owner" as TrustedInstaller, and that the administrators group has full permission allowed.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: Disk Management - Shrink Partition

I looked at that last night and I have full permissions Brink.
I'm still not allowed to make changes. Thing that baffles me is that I'm the Admin but my account is written against (users/...) and the (Admins/...)

I don't quite get that. I'm the only user and the only admin of the computer, but I have checked both permissions and I have full control.

Re: Disk Management - Shrink Partition

Mina, is the "Owner" of the C: drive set as "TrustedInstaller" though?

Re: Disk Management - Shrink Partition

Mina,

Nope. The owner is set to Administrators instead. You will need to click on this link to see how to change the owner back to TrustedInstaller for you to have the proper permissions again. Afterwards you should be able to shrink the C: drive in Disk Management.

Hope this helps.

hey Brink,

thanks for helping me out with that last issue with administrative permissions for shrinking my C drive.

I have a new issue now, again with shrinking the C drive.
I have a little over 38 GB of memory and I wanna create a volume with 5 GB.
Whenever I try to shrink the drive, i can't shrink more than 493MB and that's all it's giving me. (see pic)

What do I do?

Why did Microsoft made it so hard with so many restrictions to create volumes, I've been so frustrated with windows lately. I'm thinking about getting a macbook. What are your opinions about mac's?

Re: Disk Management - Shrink Partition

Hello Mina,

You will need to use a 3rd party disk management program to be able to do this instead.

I think Macs are overpriced.
