Microsoft Releases Silverlight 2, available for download

Redmond, Wash. — Oct. 13, 2008 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the availability of Silverlight 2, one of the industry’s most comprehensive and powerful solutions for the creation and delivery of applications and media experiences through a Web browser. Silverlight 2 delivers a wide range of new features and tools that enable designers and developers to better collaborate while creating more accessible, more discoverable and more secure user experiences.

I don't get the deal with Silverlight. The first time I ever encountered needing it was when I went to watch the video MS has on their site that shows what IE 8 is all about. Why can't they just use Flash or WMP Plug In for the video?

I disagree. Silverlight does much more than Flash and it's really quite amazing if you take the time to learn about it.

Well, I'm older and these days all I care about are reading words on a screen that present the latest news to me. I don't want to play games, watch videos and see cool pictures all because of some program that's the latest. I just want the words. Nothing else. So it's just funny all the effort made to do so much anymore when what a lot of people are heading towards is simplicity. Thank God for RSS Feeds.
