Problem with Windows Live Messenger, appearing offline

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. Been searching high and low for solutions to windows live messenger. I had a problem 3 days ago, somehow when I'm online, all my contacts are unable to see me, and i appear "offline" to them. I have tried installing the latest windows live messenger 2009, and the problem still persists. I have also tried logging on using web messenger, ebuddy, still....it doesnt go away.

Pls help........!!

Rgds
Kayla

Re: Problem with Windows Live Messenger, appearing offline

that is actually one of the features of messenger. you can sign in to appear "online" "busy" "away" etc.
you can change the option on the main window.click the button next to your display picture for options.

Re: Problem with Windows Live Messenger, appearing offline

yes, im aware of the option to appear offline. but the problem now is my status selected is "online"....just that everyone else sees me "offline"....i dont know what's the problem. i tried blocking/unblocking contacts (read that solution somewhere), but it works sometimes, and reverts back to "offline" status after a while....

Re: Problem with Windows Live Messenger, appearing offline

I have the exact same problem. It only started last night. I signed in today and received a lot of undelivered messages. My contacts tell me I am signing in and out a lot tonight and they have undelivered messages. Anyone have any ideas?

I had the problem with Messenger 8.1, so uninstalled and downloaded WLM 2009 and I still have it.

Re: Problem with Windows Live Messenger, appearing offline

I have exactly the same problem. I appear offline to others but im online and i signed out and in to others, but stay online. i use WLM 14.0.8064.206.
I've scanned the PC for viruses or other malicious programs, but it was clean. I've formated the PC and even change the password of messenger account but nothing worked..

If you have any sugestions i would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks

Re: Problem with Windows Live Messenger, appearing offline

I've sent an email to MSN's help department, so hopefully they'll get back to me in the next 24 hours to sort this problem out. It's so frustrating when you're trying to have a conversation, but you're completely unaware of any problems.

Re: Problem with Windows Live Messenger, appearing offline

I too am having this problem and it's infuriating especially when trying to have a video call and you get disconnected every 2 minutes. Online offline online offline, yet I have always been online and never went offline. My status is set to "online" yet my freinds can't see me and i keep getting cut off in my video converstaions. It's majorly frustrating. Did you ever get a reply from microsoft about this? or did they give you the cold shoulder since they make so much money they don't really give a care about the bugs in their programs?
