    Changing Windows Update Settings

Okay, so it's been awhile since I needed to ask a question on here. But, here it is:

I recently finished my time at university. This means I've been able to move back to an ISP that doesn't have the kind of draconian security that we had at school.

At university, they set group policy to require everyone to have Windows Update on "Install Updates Automatically." This, however, is not the most convenient setting for me. Unfortunately, I've been unable to change it. Any ideas on how I can change my group policy to allow myself this setting?

Have you removed your computer from the domain they had at the university? Once the machine is removed from the domain the GP should not apply to your PC any longer.

Any ideas on how to do that? Right now, I've had no success doing that. Ideas?

I just stumbled across something in System Properties that says: "You cannot join a computer running Windows Vista - Home Premium to a domain." How is this going to affect me?
