One funny problem after Security update

I installed the last set of security updates with no problems. Everything seems to be ok. 2 days after the installation I tried to use a game that i am addicted to called Zuma. I have the licensed version of this game and it has up to now worked fine with no problems on Vista Home Premium.

Once starting the game (I have it set for full screen mode) it starts to load- I get a black screen which is normal with an the vista "hour glass circle"- I can hear the music playing and then it loads in the left hand corner of the screen as a square box all jibberish. It is like you ran watercolor all over the game, and you cannot distinguish anything at all. Worse the only way to shut it down (alt cont delete doesn't do it) is to click on the windows icon key on the keyboard and then kill it in processor.

I tried uninstalling it- rebooting- reinstalling it. It installs fine with no problems but i get the same exact problem again.

I have no idea what one of the security updates did and no idea which one it could be and I would hate to uninstall all of them then start all over again.

Got any ideas? All the other games I have work fine- i tested them

Use any register cleaner and try again or install a program like Total Uninstall 4 to remove the game, then install the game again.

P.S. I think we really need SP1.....two more weeks i hope.

I did use ccleaner but it doesn't show any leftovers of zuma

what i am concerned about is what did the security updates do to this program because it was working perfectly before the updates.

ok I was determined to figure out what happened. I ran cccleaner again this time taking out all the temp files in c:/windows
and in user/temp

then i rebooted.
Ran the installer again- son of gun- now it works!

Go figure!
