Vista SP1 Breaks Switching Users ability

Before SP1, I use to be able to switch between users with no problems, now with SP1, the second user will never load right.

It dosent matter which user logs in first, the second one will always be messed up and the only way to fix it is to restart.

Logging off dosent fix it, the second user never works right unless you restart.

This is a very bad thing for me, I need to be able to switch users on the fly.

Anyone know how to uninstall SP1?

Re: Vista SP1 Breaks Switching Users ability

Hi Scorpiuscat,

Strange, my switch user is working fine with SP1 installed.

I would backup anything you do not want to lose before attempting to uninstall the SP1 to be safe. This will show you how to uninstall the SP1.

How to uninstall Windows Vista SP1 as a troubleshooting step

Hello.

I've been using SP1 since beta, and have no trouble switching users. I'd take Shawn's advice and see if that helps your situation.

I'm having the same issue on Vista HP x86. I've seen other people reporting the same problem. I really don't want to uninstall the Service Pack, so if you manage to solve the problem somehow, please do let us know.

Thanks

Re: Vista SP1 Breaks Switching Users ability

Scorpiuscat,

What antivirus are you using? I found a thread for Kaspersky (I use KAV) about it causing trouble after SP1 installation. I disabled Registry Guard for it and it seems to have helped.

That was it!!!! I am running KAV and after disableing registry Guard, I could switch user accoutns again and they would load up like normal.

Thank you Ervit!!
