Latest Updates = sleep mode GONE! HELP!

hey all, new to the site...so far, i cannot find a straight answer....i recently downloaded and installed the latest updates. everything went smooth, however, my sleep mode is now non functional. if i close the lid, it doesnt sleep and goes right to the log on screen, same if i go through the start menu. the weirder part is that, on the log on screen, there is usually that red button on the bottom right that give you the option of shutting down etc...that button has also now dissapeared. HOWEVER, BOTH the button and sleep mode are there and functional BRIEFLY after the computer is turned on from being in a shut down state. after i log on and use the computer for a while, thats it, they are both gone again....a system restore just makes my machine worse, byt screwing around with my security suite. ive tried numerous times...what can i do to get my sleep mode back up and working without doing a system restore? is it possible that the sleep mode and button will restore themselves with future updates? helppppp!

Check your laptop manufacturer`s website for the latest device drivers to enable some of the disabled features, unfortunatly the thing with laptops is without the specific OEM driver you might not be able to use sleep/suspend.
