Are you sure you copied down the error code correctly ? 8024402C associates with XP with SP2. |

I was SO frustrated with this.. here's my fix/work-around to Vista error 8024402C
This is a proxy error right? So, even though I use Comcast - which doesn't USE a proxy, Vista wantsed to see one. So, I went to a free proxy list - I used Proxy 4 Free - Public Proxy Servers, Anonymous Proxy, Proxy List - Protect Your Online Privacy! and found one thet worked.. Proxy server 209.55.33.101 using port 80 Set my LAN Connections, in Explorer to that and Microsoft update WORKED. *curtsey* You're welcome!! NOW, after it works, if you look in the the LAN Settings, click on the Advanced button and delete any entry in the Exceptions section - it might work WITHOUT any proxy as it should.
