Like all the other threads, I also cannot install Service Pack 1. I have tried all the methods on the site: support.microsoft.com/kb/947366. There was no point for resolution 1 because it's the only update that appears, I checked the hard disk but no errors showed, and for the file checker, I did two tests. The first test said a file was corrupt and it couldn't fix it, so I did a file check again, and it also said the same thing, but when I look in the log for the second check, it doesn't show any problem, so I assume it was fixed. The memory diagnostic did not show any problems. For the prerequisites, I have both installed, and the third did not apply because I'm using Home Premium, but update KB938371 was installed twice, if that really matters. I'm beginning to give up hope.
On the system file checker, on my first test, only these files were corrupt:
Does it really matter if I install SP1? Would other updates come, or does SP1 need to be installed first? And what is this Windows Module Installer that I saw somewhere talking about?
If it helps, when I right click the failed install and see what happened, the error details says Code 80041026.
Should I try and download the manual pack and try to install it that way? I doubt it's the problem, because it wasn't because of Windows Update.

It seems that it tried to fix those two files, but it didn't work, so they tried again, then they said it was broken. What I don't get is, if the second test said also files were corrupt, why didn't it say anything in the log?000000df [SR] Repairing corrupted file [ml:520{260},l:12{6}]"\??\C:"\[l:20{10}]"config.sys" from store
