Help Vista x64 lost permissions & other problems

Help Vista 64 ultimate updated or something and I lost quick launch, my back ground picture and most importantI go to open outlook 2007 and it says I don't have permission for my .pst file so I FINALLY rolled back to the 23 last night and it fixed it. Then when I got up this morning it auto updated and it went back to the way it was except I lost the 23rd as a rollback option to auto update so tryed next oldest the 25th but that did not work. ALSO MY FILES ARE LOCKED OUT i TRY AND GO TO PROPERTIES AND GIVE MYSELF, A ADMINISTRAOR, PERMISSION AND IT STILL WON'T LET ME ACCESS them. Oh I am running service pack 1 with a gig of ram a raptor for OS and a 320GB for Data Music Etc. on a new p35 giga-byte board I got 6 months ago. I was just going to reload but afraid I would do it for nothing.

Which update is it?

Maybe you can roll back and hide that update through Windows Update, after a few days it will just disappear out of your hide list.

Hi PatW,

Try using safe-mode to uninstall the latest set of updates.

Re: Help Vista x64 lost permissions & other problems

Hey Patw1211,

System File Checker (SFC) checks that all Vista files are where they should be and that they are uncorrupted. This will show you how to verify and repair the integrity of Vista system files with the System File Checker (SFC) here: System Files - SFC Command

Let me know the result.
