Windows Mail does not connect after SP1

We are having a problem with Windows Mail after downloading and installing SP1 for Windows Vista.

The error message is POP3 server unavailable along with:
Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

We are using Trend MicroPC for our internet security but I have disable the email incoming and outgoing scanning to ensure that it does not interfere with Windows Mail. Is this ok?

Should I uninstall SP1??? Need help fast, my wife is ready to scream since her email is no worky.

Re: Windows Mail does not connect after SP1

Hi, canam, and welcome to the forums.

I'd first uninstall Trend Micro and then see if it works, and then reinstall Trend Micro - SP1 is not playing nicely with some software, with the end result that you just need to reinstall the software to make it work.

I would normally have said check your drivers for your NIC, but I am assuming that it is only email that is not working - the rest of the Internet access works correctly?

I tried uninstalling SP1 but it hasn't helped. Tend Micro has been on our laptop since we bought it from Dell in February. No problems until this past week. All other network/internet is running ok, it's just Windows Mail!!!

Feel like banging my head on the wall.

Hey John, I didn't uninstall Trend Micro but I did shut it totally off. As soon as I did that Windows Mail started working. Should I try reinstalling Trend Micro or will I need to use something like Norton (which we use on the old PC-XP)?
