Have a look at the following webpage - I know that it mentions 'Windows Update' and 'Automatic Updates', but does any of the information apply to your system, in particular the section on drivers? Without information about the hardware of your machine, we cannot ascertain if this is the case. Dwarf http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=948343#method5 |

| vista home premium x64 | Re: windows vista service pack 1 cannot be installed hi dwarf thanks for ur help when i run windows update it shows that i need to update to SP1 the it starts downloading than it gives me the following error and i did all the steps it still not working and i checked if all my drivers are up to date, they are Windows Update error 80070002 If you receive Windows Update error 80070002 while checking for updates, you need to remove the temporary update files that Windows uses to identify updates for your computer. To remove the temporary files, stop the Windows Update service, delete the temporary update files, restart the Windows Update service, and then try to check for Windows updates again.
