| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Updating windows Vista systems in LAN Recently we aquired about 50 windows vista business systems and I would like to know the following regarding updating windows vista on all these sytems through LAN. Is it possible for me to update one windows vista system (call it vista-1) from internet and then update all the other systems from vista-1? We dont use windows 2003/2008 server, instead we use samba. I updated the vista-1 system from internet and tried to update vista-2 system using Group Policy --> computer configuration --> Administrative templates --> Windows componants --> Windows Update --> Specifiy Intranet Microsoft Update service Location and Configur Automatic Updates. Is it possible to update Vista systems in a LAN from another Vista system which gets updated from internet using the above mentioned group policies?? If yes, what could be mistake I made? On the vista-2 system I enabled "Specifiy Intranet Microsoft Update service Location" and tried vista-1 as both "Set the Intranet update service for Detecting Updates" and "Set the Intranet statistics server". I also tried http://vista-1 as "Set the Intranet update service for Detecting Updates" and "Set the Intranet statistics server" on vista-2 sytem. I also configured vista-2 to check for update every day at a particular time. But vista-2 failed to get updated. When I manually run windows update from vista-2, It gives the following error: "Errors found: Code 80072EE6" If its not possible to update vista systems from another vista system, is there a way it can be done using a samba server?? Hope someone would be able to help me out. Regards |

I think you'll need to run something like Microsoft SMS server to do that.... |
