Mine is a new tower unit (My XP one blew up!) running Vista Home Premium SP1. Had it a week or so and now I have 17 updates waiting to download and install. But it won't happen. I get a variety of codes including 8020003F and reference to Help and Support gets nowhere. I have had a running exchange of emails with Microsoft Support and have tried every suggestion, patch or fix they have said. All still to no avail. Can anyone out there assist.

I also get another errot "rundll.32" apparently I don't have it!

Same deal with Apple iTunes. Can access the library and play sample tunes but cannot access my account. Have tried this and the download problem without Firewall but no difference.

I am getting desperate. Bryan

Hi Bryan and Welcome to the Forums

If your missing rundll32 thats a big problem as nearly every application requires that file

Did this only start happening recently or has it been like this since you got your computer?

Thanks Steven. I cannot locate it, but absolutely everything else on the computer works swimmingly. It is just the inability to download and install Vista Updates and connect to my account at iTunes. No problems running anything else. Cannot tell you if it was ever there! How can I check it's existence now please? I have typed "rundll.32" in the search box.

Would the problem be solved by running "repair" from my system or formatting and reinstalling Vista?

Quite a severe solution but one I am accustomed to from XP and I have the installation disc.

Thanks again for your assistance Bryan

Hi
I also had problems with iTunes, but it was not with installing the iTunes it was converting my music from my iPod Nano back to my new IBM ThinkPad. I finally found a free conversion program on the internet and I signed up for free access just so I can put all my music back into my iTunes on my laptop. It's done. It was some work a lot of configuration but at least I did not have to reinstall all my CD's into iTunes again.

So now I am almost done configuring my new laptop the way I want it to run. No I am not a newbie to these platforms. I am an advanced user of UNIX, Windows, etc. But if you have any questions, I would be more than happy to assist you.

:D
