Vista - Update error code 80070570

I keep getting this error code when I'm trying to download/install updates on my computer. And of course, the "get help with this error" link is... well, less than useful, and essentially told me to go solve the problem on my own. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I'm getting the same error code, but it's because my router is corrupting the files. I went to long length to discover what the core problem was. I can bypass the router and the updates work fine. I doubt that will work for everyone, but at least it's one easy thing to try.

I would love to give that tool a whirl as I registered to this forum to see what it was and to solve my 80072 efd update problem (see the unreplied to thread a few below this one).

Shawn said it is in the staff lounge though. I have been working over a week on this problem. Have you any ideas?

Thank you flavius, I used it (and bookmarked the fixit4me page lol) but still get the same error.

Sorry vdel14 for the theadus interuptus, but it appears you abandoned this anyways.

Miles: I tried that, but the computer would not connect without the router, as it's someone else's computer I don't want to reconfig the internet to my settings, I'kll take it back and try it on their DSL (I have cable). I also checked to see if the router FW was somehow blocking.

This is a doozy of a problem...........
