Vista - issue with problem reports and solutions

hi all
can some please help me ,i keep getting a message come up in p.r.s saying that i need to update my nforce nvidia chipset ,so i use the link provided by vista and computer crashes then i try and go to nvidia and get it that way but when i go on motherboard drivers window explorer stops working and crashes so then i went to asus the makers of my mb and yep you have guessed it nothing happens then windows explorer stops working i run vista 64bit ulimate with a q9550 and 2 9600 graphics card and a p5n-d mb if it helps i have avast installed all i want is to update driver but cant does anyone know why

Well, this may not be a solution but, have you tried using your Original CD Drivers?

If that doesn't work, I would boot in safe mode, uninstall the drivers for the mobo, restart and install from CD then since I am sure Vista will not be able to connect to the internet and look for the drivers since you won't have Ethernet capabilities. Once you load those drivers, it should let you connect and go to Asus site and download the new drivers then.

Another thing that we can do is upload the drivers for you in Rapidshare or any other host that you might be able to download from if everything else fails.
