8000ffff

hi i'm very new to all this computor stuff, i have a sony vaio laptop and had it about 4 month now anyway since august of this year i have not been able to update it. I have it on auto update but everyday i get the same old message "windows cant search for updates" and gives the error code 8000FFFF im not very technical so please be gentle with any advice.

How much memory do you have installed? 4gb? Do you have Service Pack 1 installed? This may be your problem.

Now I had this exact problem with the KB929777 update showed on that link.
I got it before installing SP1. After I installed SP1 however, it installed properly. I don't know if it's the same update you are having trouble with but you can do some more research on this problem. You might try uninstalling the update if it is in your View Update History list. Click on the Installed Updates at top to uninstall an update.
Also, if you don't have SP1, you'll probably want to install that.
